Erick Station 1
The Erick Fire Department is located in western Beckham County and operates 11 apparatus out of one station. The department protects a population of 1000 and covers an area of 225 sq miles. The department responds to approx. 100 calls a year and currently has 20 volunteers on roster.
Pumper 1 - 2000 International/Luverne, Serial ? - 1250 Darley/1000 Tank - Diesel/Auto
Pumper 1 is the second out pumper for the department.
Ladder 1 - 1993 Simon-Duplex/LTI, Serial #9204475 - 2000 Hale/750 Tank/75’ Stick - Diesel/Auto - ex-Hammondsport, NY
Purchased in 2022 from Hammondsport, NY, Ladder 1 is the first out pumper for the department and will respond to any fire on maintained roads, including the large stretch of I-40 the departments covers.
Tanker 1 - 2008 Freightliner/2010 ?/EFD - ? Challenger/5000 Tank - Diesel/Auto
Tanker 1 responds to the large fires this area often sees along with other nearby trailer-tankers to provide a steady water source. The trailer was purchased via online bid and the tractor was provided through forestry.
Bearcat Brush Pumper 1 - 2008 Freightliner/2012 EFD - 150 CET/3000 Tank - Diesel/Auto
Named after the school mascot, Bearcat Brush Pumper 1 is first out for most fires at the department, along with Brush 56. It can also be used as a tanker if needed.
Brush 7 - 1972 AM General/EFD - 150 CET/1200 Tank - Diesel/Auto
Brush 7 was provided to the department by forestry and is one of the many brush trucks at the departments disposal. The department did retrofit this unit with a remote controlled turret.
Brush 8 - 1979 Ford F600/1958 Boardman, F-1215 - 150 CET/500 Tank - Gas/Manual - ex-Elk City, OK, ex-Delhi, OK
Original to Elk City, the body to this truck was originally on a 1956 Ford F600 purchased by Beckham County Dist. 1. In 1979 it was retrofitted and placed on this 1979 Ford F600 and ran as Elk City Truck 1. Retired from the ECFD in the early 2000s, it then possibly served at the Delhi Fire Department before finally landing at Erick where it is still an active part of the fleet.
Brush 55 - 1986 Chevy/EFD - 200 Tank - Diesel/Auto
Purchased and provided to the department by Beckham County, this truck was originally equipped with a common pump & pony motor for use as a brush pumper. It was then used as the departments rescue unit until the purchase of Rescue 1. With the number of brush trucks in the EFD fleet increasing, the department decided to try a new idea and place a pressure washer on this unit for high pressure, low volume application in heavy vegetation mop ups. It is also used for prescribed burns.
Brush 56 - 2024 Ford F550/Blanchat B-6, Serial #2406RX02 - 200 Rowe/600 Tank - Gas/Auto
The newest addition to the department by only a month, Brush 56 is first out for most fire calls at the EFD along with BBP1. It is equipped with a crosslay and air packs for rural structure fires, battery powered extrication equipment for accidents, and all the usual wildland tools for grass fires. This truck is also equipped with a CAFS system.
Brush 57 - 1978 Ford F600/EFD - 150 CET/600 Tank - Gas/Manual
Brush 57 was supplied to the department new by the county, and all trucks with BK on them were purchased with county money. Built in house, this beast is one of many F600/F700 brush trucks that have served the department.
Brush 58 - 2019 Ford F350/2007 Blanchat B-3, Serial #070317 - 200 Hale/250 Tank - Gas/Auto
Brush 58 was purchased in 2019 while the bed came from a 2007 unit where the cab and chassis was totaled in a fire. The department performed the conversion and upfit of the new cab and chassis.
Brush 59 - 1994 Stewart-Stevenson/2023 EFD - 150 CET/600 Tank - Diesel/Auto
Originally serving Wapanucka as Brush 7, the EFD purchased this truck from a nearby farmer who used it for private fire protection. The department upfitted the unit placed it in service in 2023.
Rescue 1 - 2005 Ford F550/Chief - 0/0 - Diesel/Auto - ex-Monkey Island, OK
Originally serving Monkey Island, Rescue 1 responds to assist the local ambulance and also carries a set of hydraulic extrication equipment.
