Orlando Station 1
The Orlando Fire Department is located in far northern Logan County and operates 8 apparatus out of two stations located across the street from each other. The department protects a population of 200 and covers an area of 83 sq miles in 4 different counties (Logan, Payne, Garfield, & Noble). The department responds to approx. 60 calls a year and currently has 15 volunteers.
Engine 6 - 2009 International/Pierce, Job #9942109 - 1250 Waterous/1250 Tank - Diesel/Auto - ex-?, MO
Purchased by the department in 2014, this truck was rebuilt by Missouri Fire Apparatus after a rollover from its previous department. Originally a cab and half, MFA chopped the extra space off and replaced it with more storage between the cab and pump. Engine 6 will responding to structural calls and will also act as a blocker on nearby Interstate 35.
Tanker 8 - 2009 Peterbilt/Freedom - 1250 Hale/3000 Tank - Diesel/Auto
The second truck the department purchased with county sales tax money, this was the departments first official tanker and is a near twin to the tanker in Waukomis, OK.
Orlando 1 - 2011 Ford F550/Crow - 200 Hale/500 Tank - Gas/Auto
Orlando 1 is the first out small brush pumper for the department and will soon be receiving a bumper mounted monitor and ground sweeps.
Orlando 3 - 2000 Ford F350/Blanchat - 200 Hale/275 Tank - Gas/Auto - ex-Breckenridge, OK
The newest truck placed in service, Orlando 3 was purchased in 2020 from Breckenridge, OK. This truck began its life as a Blanchat demo truck and when finally sold to a department, it arrived in Breckenridge with nearly 3,000 miles on it! The OFD upfitted the truck with new lights and it and Orlando 5 are now the designated Logan County Task Force trucks for the department.
Orlando 4 - 1978 AM General/2011 OFD - 200 Hale/800 Tank - Diesel/Auto
The department obtained this truck in 2011. Built in house, this truck ran its original outfit until 2018 when it received a lighting upgrade and had ground sweeps placed on the front bumper by J&J Custom Fire.
Orlando 5 - 2016 International/Wildfire - 200 Hale/800 Tank - Diesel/Auto
The pride of the fleet, Orlando 5 is first out for most calls at the department. With the front monitor, this truck is able to respond with only one personnel and begin an early fire attack. This truck is also first out for car fires, especially on I-35, as members can use the front monitor to knock out the bulk of the fire and limit have to put personnel on the highway. All of the OFD brush trucks are equipped with air packs in case the need arises.
Command - 2017 Ram 2500 - Gas/Auto
Orlando Command, as you might have guessed, will act as command on larger fires in the area. This is the only designated command unit for the northern part of the county.
