Wakita Station 2
If you’re not already familiar with Wakita, you’ve surely at least heard of it. Famous for its role in the 1996 movie Twister, Wakita is located about 35 miles north of Enid in northwestern Grant County. The department covers 90 sq miles and protects a population of around 300. The department currently has 14 volunteers and responds to approximately 175 calls a year.
Station 2 houses Engine 51 and Command 50. This building housed the entire department until 2020. The small quarters required trucks the almost touch when parked inside.
