Woodcrest Station 1
The Woodcrest Fire Department is located in South Central Logan County and operates 13 apparatus out of one station built in 2018. The department protects a population of 8500 and covers and area of 58 sq miles. The department responds to approx. 550 calls a year and currently has 26 volunteers. The department also operates volunteer shifts, staffing at least one person Sun-Fri 1900-0500, with optional paid daytime shifts when personnel are available.
Engine 1 - 2009 Pierce Impel, Job #21351-01 - 1500 Pierce/1000 Water/60 Foam - Diesel/Auto - ex-Johnson County, KS, ex-Pedernales, TX
The newest addition to the WFD, Engine 1 should be entering service in early August. Engine 1 will be first out for all first due fire calls for the department and is equipped with one of Pierce's unique top mount PUC pumps. This truck formerly served Johnson County Fire District 1 in Kansas and then Pedernales Fire Department in Texas. The WFD repainted the top half white to match their other engine and to continue the change from yellow to traditional white/red.
Engine 2 - 2009 Pierce Velocity, Job #21934 - 1500 Hale/500 Water/50 Foam - ex-Loudoun County, VA, ex-Canton, Illinois
Engine 2 responds with Rescue 3 to all accidents and acts as the blocker unit when operating on nearby Interstate 35. Engine 2 will also be designated to respond to mutual aid manpower requests. Engine 2 formerly served Loudoun County, VA and then Canton Fire Department in Illinois.
Tanker 4 - 2007 Kenworth/Pierce, Job #7446163 - 500 Waterous/2000 Tank - Diesel/Auto
Tanker 4 was purchased new by the department and acts as the departments structural tanker.
Tanker 7 - 1984 AM General/2013 G&L/WFD - 200 Hale/1500 Tank - Diesel/Auto
Tanker 7 mainly acts as a heavy brush pumper but can act as a tanker if needed. It is equipped with a catwalk and a front monitor.
Tanker 8 - 1984 AM General/2013 G&L/WFD - 200 Hale/2000 Tank - Diesel/Auto
Tanker 8 is the departments rural tanker and is utilized to fill brush pumpers. It is also equipped with a front monitor for fire attack if needed. Both Tanker 7 & Tanker 8 were painted and upfitted in house by department members.
Brush Pumper 1 - 2022 Ford F550/J&J - 200 Hale/500 Tank - Diesel/Auto
The first new brush truck for the department since 2009, Brush Pumper 1 was built by J&J Custom Fire in Pawnee, OK and then was outfitted by MEU in SE OKC. Brush 1 is first out for all grass fires and also is the dedicated task force truck for the department.
Brush Pumper 3 - 2007 Ford F350/2017 G&L/WFD - 200 Hale/300 Tank - Gas/Auto - ex-Cashion, OK
Originally serving as Cashion Brush 45, the department purchased the cab & chassis from the CFD and had G&L, a local fabricator, build the bed and the department installed the rest of the equipment.
Brush Pumper 5 - 2009 Ford F350/G&L/WFD - 200 Hale/300 Tank - Diesel/Auto
Brush Pumper 5 was bought new by the department and was built by both G&L and the WFD.
Rescue 3 - 2014 Ford F550/G&L/WFD - 0/0 - Diesel/Auto
The cab and chassis of Rescue 3 was bought new by the department, while the body was originally on Oak Cliff Rescue 95. The department purchased the former rescue whole, sold the cab and chassis, and had G&L customize the body to their needs while the department finished the rest of the upfitting, including paint. Rescue 3 responds to all accidents for the department and responds to all medical calls west of Westminster Rd.
Squad 1 - 2007 Ford F350/2017 G&L/WFD - 0/0 Gas/Auto - ex-Cashion, OK
The chassis the Squad 1 was formerly Cashion Brush 46 and was donated to the department due to mechanical issues with the unit. The WFD repair the issues, had the body built by G&L, and the department finished upfitting the unit. Squad 1 responds to all medical calls east of Westminster Rd, where road conditions begin to deteriorate.
Command 1 - 2016 Ford F250/MEU - Gas/Auto
Command 1 is one of two command/staff vehicles for the department and was upfitted by MEU in SE OKC.
Command 2 - 2018 Chevy Tahoe/Proliner - Gas/Auto - ex-Garden City Park, NY
Command 2 originally served Garden City Park Fire Department in New York, located just east of Queens, NYC.
Ranger 1 - 2018 Polaris Ranger/RKO - 4 CAT/120 Water/20 Foam - Gas/Auto
Ranger 1 was originally built for Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport. The WFD purchased the unit in 2023.
